The launch of the National Organ Donation Paediatric Strategy took place in Birmingham on 28th June 2019. The strategy aims to increase child organ donation rates which over the past few years have not risen in line with adult rates. This means that many children are not receiving the life saving operations they need as many organs are size specific. The Jemima Layzell Trust were delighted to hear that Jemima was mentioned and hope that her legacy will inspire others to donate.

'Currently, parents that are asked about organ donation are significantly less likely to donate a child's organs for lifesaving transplants. Only 48% of families supported donation for a relative aged under 18 last year (2017/18). This compares to an average of 66% families agreeing overall’ NHS
