The Jemima Layzell Trust are very pleased to have been able to help Talitha Gardner with her journalism degree. In her report on the new Opt Out law Talitha interviewed Sophy Layzell, Jemima’s mother to find out how organ donation has affected their family.

The new law came into effect on 20 May this year and means that it will now be assumed that everyone is willing to donate unless they specify otherwise by opting out.

It is still vital that everyone ensures their next of kin know their wishes as family can overrule a persons decision.

England joins Wales who have already adopted the opt out law and next March Scotland aims to follow.

Please follow our ‘donate’ link to register on the official Nhs website.
